Why Cerberus PRO

The system itself cuts installation labour

Siemens builds short-circuit isolation directly into Cerberus PRO devices — ISOtechnology, standard and at no extra cost. Competing systems need separate isolator modules designed, purchased, mounted, and wired on every loop. On a Cerberus PRO job, those modules — and their backboxes, conduit stubs, terminations, and addressing — simply aren’t on the bill of materials.

Class X wiring without extra hardware — built-in dual isolation meets NFPA 72 Style 7 / ULC circuit-isolation requirements with no separate isolator modules on X-series devices.
Forgiving loop wiring — twisted or shielded wire is not required, the loop can share conduit with notification, speaker, and data circuits, no end-of-line devices, and T-taps are permitted on Class B circuits. Less dedicated cable and conduit on the job.
Polarity-insensitive devices — a reversed pair doesn’t become a callback. Siemens documents this as greatly reducing installation and debugging time.
Faults locate themselves — on a wire-to-wire short, the panel reports the fault location between two devices. No process-of-elimination troubleshooting on a live schedule.
ASA detectors resist false alarms — dual optical and dual thermal sensing with selectable profiles rejects steam, dust, and construction debris — fewer nuisance callbacks during the build and after turnover.

On a fire alarm installation, wire, conduit, and installation labour — not the panel — are usually the largest cost drivers. Those quantities are fixed by design decisions made before the first wire is pulled.   • Circuit and loop routing that cuts home runs — addressable loop layout planned around the building, reducing wire footage and conduit compared to circuit-heavy designs.
  • Built-in isolation instead of discrete isolator modules — ISOtechnology removes isolator devices, backboxes, and their installation labour from the bill of materials entirely.
  • Listed equivalent substitutions — where the spec allows an “or equal,” we propose Siemens equivalents through the consultant properly, with the documentation to back the substitution.

How does ISOtechnology actually reduce our installation cost?+

Each eliminated isolator is a device, a backbox, a conduit stub, terminations, and addressing your crew never has to install. Who performs the CAN/ULC-S537 verification?+
Under CAN/ULC-S537, verification must be performed at arm’s length from the installing contractor. CAINtech prepares the system so verification passes cleanly, coordinates a qualified independent verifier acceptable to the AHJ, walks the verification with them, and clears any deficiencies — so the fire alarm never holds up occupancy.
Can existing wiring be reused on a retrofit or panel replacement?+
Often, yes. Siemens documents that existing wiring can frequently be reused with Cerberus PRO devices in retrofit applications, and the loop does not require twisted or shielded cable. We test the cabling first — insulation resistance, continuity, and loop limits — and wiring that passes stays, which matters because cabling is a large share of the original installation cost. What happens after the building is occupied?+
The same team that supplied and commissioned the system supports it: annual CAN/ULC-S536 inspection and testing, parts continuity as an authorized distributor, 24/7 emergency response, and optional cloud monitoring through Siemens Building X. That continuity is a selling point you can pass to your client at handover.
