For property managers running buildings on Siemens Cerberus PRO, an authorized-distributor relationship matters because parts lead times stay tight (we maintain stock and ship direct from Siemens for less common components), diagnostic continuity is preserved (no third-party interpretation of factory diagnostics), and platform updates flow through factory channels rather than gray-market routes.

Siemens is the first and only fire alarm manufacturer with ISOtechnology built-in on all major devices at no extra cost. Competitor systems require separate isolator modules to be designed, specified, and installed on every loop — adding parts count, design time, and bill of materials.

What runs on the Cerberus PRO platform

Siemens Cerberus PRO is the premium addressable fire alarm platform from Siemens, used in commercial buildings, healthcare, education, and institutional facilities across Canada. The platform includes:

  • Cerberus PRO FC901 / FC922 / FC924 and Cerberus Pro Modular Fire Alarm control panels for small to large building deployments.
  • Cerberus Pro addressable detectors with built-in Isolators including ASA (Advanced Signal Analysis) smoke detectors, heat detectors, and combination detectors.
  • Manual stations, monitoring modules, and supervisory devices across the addressable loop with built-in isolators on every device.
  • Conventional Notification Appliances including horn-strobes, speakers, and voice evacuation modules.
  • Addressable Notification Appliance with built-in Isolators and disturbance free testing (Currently only available with Cerberus Pro Modular System)
  • Cerberus Pro voice evacuation system integration for high-rises and complex occupancies.

Cerberus PRO is favored for buildings where reliability of detection (particularly the ASA smoke detector technology), voice evacuation, and long-term platform support matter. Running a Siemens MXL system?

Siemens has formally moved the MXL fire alarm platform into end-of-life. Replacement parts are increasingly difficult to source, and continuing to maintain an MXL system means longer outages every time something fails. Migration to Cerberus PRO is the supported upgrade path.

As an authorized Cerberus PRO distributor, CAINtech handles MXL-to-Cerberus PRO migrations: site audit, phased panel replacement, device migration where possible, CAN/ULC-S537:2019 verification, and AHJ sign-off. Most existing cabling and infrastructure can be retained, reducing the cost of the migration significantly versus a full rip-and-replace.

CAINtech is a Siemens Solution Partner and an authorized Siemens Cerberus PRO distributor for Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). This is a direct supply and support relationship with Siemens for the Cerberus PRO fire alarm platform — we order Cerberus PRO hardware direct from Siemens, our technicians have access to factory training and technical support, and we maintain parts continuity for buildings running the platform. Our status is on file as part of Siemens’ non-proprietary partner network in Canada.
Do I need a Cerberus PRO system to work with CAINtech?+
No. CAINtech’s CFAA-certified team inspects, maintains, and repairs all major commercial fire alarm platforms in the GTA: Siemens Cerberus PRO, Mircom, Notifier, Edwards (EST), Fire-Lite, Honeywell, and Simplex. The Cerberus PRO distribution relationship is for buildings choosing Siemens for new installation or retrofit; existing systems on other platforms continue to be serviced as-is.
When does choosing Cerberus PRO make sense?+
For new commercial fire alarm installations or major retrofits, Cerberus PRO is well-suited to buildings where high-reliability detection (Siemens ASA smoke detectors), voice evacuation, and long-term platform support are priorities. Healthcare facilities, large condos, post-secondary campuses, and Class A office buildings are common Cerberus PRO deployments. Smaller commercial buildings often use lower-cost platforms.
Can existing non-Cerberus systems be retrofitted to Cerberus PRO?+
Yes, in most cases. A fire alarm retrofit replaces the control panel and devices with Cerberus PRO equivalents while preserving cabling and infrastructure where possible. The retrofit requires CAN/ULC-S537:2019 verification testing before the new system goes into service. CAINtech provides the verification along with the retrofit.
Do Cerberus PRO parts have better availability than other platforms?+
For CAINtech customers, yes — we stock common Cerberus PRO components and have direct ordering for less common parts. For non-Cerberus platforms we work through standard distribution channels, which can have longer lead times for older or specialty components.
Is there a maintenance contract tied to the distributor relationship?+
No. The distributor relationship is separate from CAINtech’s standard fire protection service contracts. You can purchase Cerberus PRO hardware and installation from CAINtech without committing to ongoing inspection, and you can have CAINtech inspect a Cerberus PRO system installed by another vendor.
What is ISOtechnology™ and why does it matter for our building?+
ISOtechnology is built-in addressable short-circuit isolation on every major Cerberus PRO device — Siemens is the only manufacturer that includes it standard at no extra cost. On other fire alarm platforms, each isolator is a separate module that has to be designed in, specified, ordered, and installed on the loop. In practice that means lower parts count, a smaller bill of materials, and Class-X (NFPA 72 Style 7) short-circuit performance without extra hardware. For consulting engineers comparing fire alarm proposals, it is one of the recognized procurement-grade reasons to specify Cerberus PRO.
We still have a Siemens MXL fire alarm panel — what are our options?+
Siemens has moved MXL to end-of-life. Replacement parts are scarce and lead times are growing, which means each future repair or addition becomes more expensive and slower. The supported migration path is to Cerberus PRO. CAINtech, as the authorized distributor, handles the migration: site audit, phased panel replacement, device migration where compatible, CAN/ULC-S537:2019 verification, and AHJ sign-off. In most retrofits the existing cabling and loop infrastructure can be retained, which cuts the cost of migration meaningfully versus a full rip-and-replace.
